Design Process
01 | Initial Consultation & Project Definition
We begin with an in-depth 90 minute consultation for a flat fee that will take place in your home. We dive into your goals, priorities, and the scope of your renovation or new construction project.
We review how the space will function, discuss investment parameters, and identify opportunities and constraints. After this meeting, you will receive a proposal with estimated design fees to complete the scope of work prior to signing a contract.
02 | Discovery & Design Direction
Once the design agreement has been signed, we get to work with understanding your vision, lifestyle, functional needs, and investment expectations. This establishes the foundation for the project. During this phase we will coordinate with the architect and align with the contractor to ensure design decisions support both the architectural intent and construction approach.
We will evaluate the existing conditions and develop an overall design direction. Space planning, preliminary layouts, and early finish decisions are developed with budget awareness and sequencing in mind, setting the project up for a smooth transition into detailed design and execution.
03 | Design Development & Documentation
We refine the approved direction into detailed plans and specifications that support accurate pricing and execution. This phase may include floor plans, elevations, lighting layouts, and finish schedules.
Coordination with architects, engineers, and contractors ensures all design decisions are documented clearly and prepared for construction.
04 | Construction Coordination & Procurement
RS Design Management oversees the ordering, tracking, and coordination of all furnishings, materials, and finishes.
For projects involving construction, RS Design Management serves as a central point of coordination. We collaborate closely with the contractor and trades, conduct site visits, and address design-related questions as they arise. Our oversight helps maintain design intent, manage expectations, and proactively resolve issues to keep the project moving forward.
